iQPARK

iQpark is an interactive entertainment-educational centre situated in the former facility of the State textile research institute in Liberec . It is the first of its kind in the Czech Republic using games and entertaining interactive utilities as a means of education and learning. It comes up after the fashion of world’s “science centers” and draws from concepts verified by them offering unstrained ways of education and learning by means of interactive entertaining utilities [schola ludus (learning with games)]. It incorporates more than a hundred interactive exhibits. The interactivity, educational, entertaining, and attractiveness are the basic requirements of the exhibits.

The organizer

The iQpark’s organizer is the non-profit organization LABYRINT BOHEMIA closely
co-operating with NADACE ŠKOLA HROU, CENTRUM BABYLON, a.s., and other partners.

CURRENT CONDITION

Since 2004 the Labyrint Bohemia p.b.c. company has been running the Museum of fun learning in Centrum Babylon’s limited area of about 400 sq. m which also serves the purpose of verifying and testing the exhibits as well as the public interest. It received 30 thousand visitors during the last year, particularly children and adults. The public interest proves project’s objectivity and tenability.

SCOPE

The iQpark building project covers the reconstruction of a part of the State textile research institute, construction and equipment of new displays in the total area exceeding 1 600 sq. m (approx.
1 000 sq. m of display area), manufacturing and arrangement of approx. 100 pieces of new interactive exhibits including instructions, manuals, descriptions, etc., and marketing activities. The iQpark’s operation is dealt with by a separate project.

FINANCING

The total project’s budget comes to the amount of CZK 39.5 million.

The are multiple financial resources. Labyrint Bohemia , o. p. s. is the investor. EU funds (SROP) have a share in the project’s investment– CZK 12 million and the Government – CZK 1.2 million. The general partner of the project is Nadace Škola Hrou (CZK 30 million), and another partner is Centrum Babylon, a. s.
